Dr. Denise M. Josey, MD, MPH, MS graduated cum laude from Atlantic Union College having earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.  She then completed a Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and subsequently a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Quantitative Methods (Biostatistics and Epidemiology) from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ School of Public Health- now Rutgers University.  She worked for a year as the Health Educator and Nutritionist of the Englewood, NJ Municipal Health Department, and then earned her Doctorate of Medicine degree from Howard University College of Medicine.  She completed her residency in Preventive Medicine/Public Health Medicine at the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County and an Addiction Medicine fellowship at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She currently holds board certifications in both Addiction Medicine and Preventive Medicine/Public Health Medicine.

Dr. Josey has represented the International Society of Doctors for the Environment at the United Nations for the 61st Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, is a faculty member of the Florida Department- Palm Beach County Preventive Medicine Public Health Residency Program, and is a faculty member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine- Pain and Addiction Planning Committee.

Dr. Josey has dedicated her career to social justice, mental health, chronic pain, and mitigating the opioid crisis in suburban and urban areas.
